The meaning of the poem is that friendship is one of the most important things. It's hard to tell when you'll make a new friend but when you do it's one of the best feelings. It is something that will last if it is something that is special. It inspires me to remain close to my friends. My two best friends are ones I had since 8th grade and freshmen year.

Kameron: That poem really describes you.

My poem is by shel silverstein. Where the sidewalk ends has to be my favorite. Because when I read this it makes me feel so relaxed. How it tells how the grass is growing and the sidewalk ending and just nature taking its place in the world.

Kameron: I like your poem.

1. The poem that I like is called Footprints in the Sand.

Footprints in the Sand

One night I dreamed I was walking along the beach with the Lord. Many scenes from my life flashed across the sky.

In each scene I noticed footprints in the sand. Sometimes there were two sets of footprints, other times there was one only.

This bothered me because I noticed that during the low periods of my life, when I was suffering from anguish, sorrow or defeat, I could see only one set of footprints, so I said to the Lord,

“You promised me Lord,
that if I followed you, you would walk with me always. But I have noticed that during the most trying periods of my life there has only been one set of footprints in the sand. Why, when I needed you most, have you not been there for me?”

The Lord replied, “The years when you have seen only one set of footprints, my child, is when I carried you.”

Mary Stevenson, 1936

2. Meaning:

This poem is about a person getting angry at God for not being there during the hard times in her life. It is a poem of frustration about the struggle of life. The surprise ending is the revelation that the person actually wasn't alone; during the hardest times of life is when she was actually carried through the difficulty.

3. Inspiration:

This poem inspires me to trust that God is with me, even if I can't feel him. This gives me encouragement when times get tough.

4. Critique:

TBD

TBD
