When completing oral practice for a certain topic and wishing to increase students preparedness and prediction skills I love to do this activity.

1. Give all of the students a question to write a short 50-100 answer on.
2. Get them to swap it with the person sitting next to them
3. Ask them to read their partners answer and write two follow-up questions
4. The students then switch back and they write answers to the two questions posed
5. Switch back and read the new answers, this time instead of writing new questions they will directly ask the other student a new question based on one of their replies to the follow up question.

When learning numbers and counting. Students stand in a circle. Students start at satu and count up to a chosen number ie. tujuh (this person says tikus). You can then introduce a variation instructing students that they can say one or two numbers in their turn, and then increase again to one, two or three. Students who don't say tikus or who say the wrong number are out. The count starts again after tikus.

Split the class into two teams. Each has a ball and has to pass it to the next person counting in order as fast as they can from 1-20. The winning team is the first to get to DUA PULUH!
Lots of opportunities for variations to the game.

The students at my school are learning Indonesian through the Project Based Learning. At the end of each project, students are expected to create an end product. One of the media that students are using is Powtoon. Here are some of the end product that students created. You can use these Powtoon videos to your students as an introduction to a project or unit, just to give them a rough idea what they are about to learn. Also, Powtoon has a free version for students to use.

I created this booklet last term (during learning from home). This is a 10-week unit/project. You can also tweak it to a shorter project.
Students really like it as it helps them to collate all of their works from the previous weeks without having to print them off and glue them in their workbook. It also has recordings that student can listen to practice their pronunciation. The activities in this booklet are also modified for above, at and lower level students. Touch the colour

When learning about colours (or not) you can use this activity 5 minutes before the bell.

Basically, you need to call out one colour at a time and get the students to touch an object that has the same colour. Those who are too slow are out. The last one standing is the winner. You can give them a small Indonesian oleh-oleh as a reward.
Students can get quite crazy with this activity as they want to stay in the game, often they would run from one end of the learning space to the other to touch the object. So, you will need to make sure that your learning space is free from tripping hazard. :)

Prepositions - do it!

Take the students outside or on the playground (send the naughty ones back in if they don't listen to you :) )
Then, yell out a preposition (di atas, di bawah, di dekat di dalam, etc). Students then need to do what the preposition says. For example, if you yell out he word "di bawah" then they need to crawl underneath something, if you yell out the word di atas, then they need to climb on something. However, you need to set up boundaries with this game as students tend to be silly and climb up something that they are not meant to.

If you've never used Quizlet, it s highly recommended. I noticed that my students are animated whenever I ask them to practice vocabulary on Quizlet.
It allows student to practice writing and spelling. You can also test their vocabulary. The fun bit is students can play two different games of competitive nature, they are "match" and "gravity". They can compete with their peers in the classroom and be the fastest.

You can also take it to the next level where everyone in the classroom compete against one another (somewhat similar to Kahoot, but also different) where students can see where they are at on the competition line. They need to make sure they got all the answers correct, otherwise they will be sent back to the square one. It is hard to explain but just try it out in your class!

Vocab & writing

When trying to get vocab to stick a writing game is fun.

Put students into small groups (4 or 5)

Give each student one word, encourage them to keep it to themselves, but if they need help they can work with their group.

In turns, students will write a sentence to add onto the previous sentence, but they must use the new vocabulary.

The paragraphs can end up pretty wacky but tell some good stories! To add competition, make it a race!
