"The playing field was a vague strawberry color" (457)

Explanation: This is a metaphor due to the comparison of the field to a strawberry. (Red, Bright)

Signifance: I believe King wrote it like this becuase he is trying to get the idea that the field is the colour red but using a more specific tone of red by using "vague strawberry" to actually get the reader to visualize it better.

Imagery: This quote is an example of imagery because King used the idea to describe the type of red of the field by saying "vague strawberry" which is very specific. King did this so the reader can actually get to visually how the field actually looked and help the reader identify what kind of red it is.

"Her mouth an opening black O of terror"(459)

Explanation: This quote is a metaphor because there's a comparison between her mouth and the letter O.

Significance: Steven king used this metaphor to give readers an idea of Norma's facial expressions by using the letter O to describe her mouth , which is the shape it makes when your in shock.

Terror:This quote exemplifies terror because it builds up the readers anticipation as to what going to happen next in the story. It also builds the fear of the unknown which is why king used black O,to make us think about the darkness and what lies beyond it.

"A baseball game was on, and all the players faces looked green." (457)

Explanation: This is a metaphor because the baseball players faces is being compared to the colour green.

Significance: Stephen King was trying to indicate that the players seemed sick and it was noticeable.

Imagery: This is an example of Imagery because King used the sense of sight, by saying "the players faces looked green" which explains that he's seen them. King also compared the two so that the readers are able to visualize what he was seeing and gives us an idea of what was happening to the players.
