Perhaps, the melodic lines could overlap to give a different texture instead of a mostly homophonic one.

The parallel organum-like movement is super effective and gives a very interesting sound, especially when contrasted with the more contrapuntal sections. My only tiny criticism is that at around 0:20 that parallel movement kind of goes on for too long and my ears get a bit bored haha. But it is a very cool effect. :)

I think it's very melodically effective and works well as a piece! However to some extent I cannot hear what is particularly "counterpoint" about it, especially in the middle section.
