I believe this because of the literal charity aspect involved in this event as fundraising is the main part of it. Though some would argue that this effort portrays those with autism as objects of pity or sympathy. It may perpetuate stereotypes that individuals with autism need to be "cured" or "fixed," and it relies on non-disabled individuals to provide support and resources through charitable donations. The event's mission is to create a world where individuals with autism can reach their full potential, and is organized by those who are families of individuals with autism.

The movie, Rain Man, which came out in 1988 is a movie that portrays autism under the medical model. In the movie, the character Raymond Babbitt, who is portrayed by Dustin Hoffman, is depicted in the movie as a savant with autism. The movie focuses on Raymond's individual deficits as well as his cognitive strengths. The movie portrays Raymond's cognitive strengths and deficits as central to his character. Also, Raymond's autism is presented as a medical condition primarily characterized by his impairments in social interaction, communication, and frequent repetitive behaviors. Lastly, throughout the movie, Raymond's autism is looked at from a medical perspective which aligns with the medical model. In the movie, efforts (by other characters) are primarily directed towards managing his symptoms and behaviors, as well as behavioral interventions and routines that help reduce his anxiety and improve his functioning within structured environments.
