And then he truly rose to power. Hitler was the leader of the national socialist German workers party which is more commonly known as the NAZI party.

The effects this had on not only Germany but the world was very drastic, many people were killed in WW2 and millions of Jewish people were murdered in the event that is known as the holocaust.

The battle began when British ships on the English channel were bombed by the German Luftwaffe. the battle began with a distinct advantage of the German Luftwaffe over the RAF with 2600 aircraft against Britain's 640. Mass bombing of airfields, harbours, radar stations and aircraft factories began on 13 August 1940. On 7 September 1940, the Germans moved on to bombing London as they believed enough damage had been caused to the RAF stations. however, this gave the RAF time to recover their defences. On 15 September 1940, the Germans launched another massive attack, but the British fighters reacted quickly and then it became clear that the Germans could not win. This date is officially regarded as the end of the Battle of Britain and this day is commemorated each year.

The effects this had were very drastic with both sides having enormous loss of life and aircraft. This battle is also the first battle to be fought exclusively in the air.

The battle had over 2 million casualties and lasted for 5 months. The Germans chose to attack Stalingrad to produce more machinery and weapons, and because it was named after Joseph Vissarionovich Stalin who was the president of the   USSR at the time. And as it would be a downfall for Stalin to have a city named after him to be invaded but a benefit for Germany. But in the end, Germany fell and lost due to their lack of preparation for the Russian winter.

This was a codenamed for the battle of Normandy that launched the successful invasion of German-occupied Western Europe. Approximately 156,000 troops landed in Normandy from the USA, Canada and Great Britain. Troops from Australia, New Zealand, Greece, Poland, and Denmark also took place.
