I wonder why every living thing has genes and where these genes came from/how they formed?

I learned that making a family tree is quite hard, its a fun but long process. i also learned that many people in my family have diffrent traits, for example my dads dad had blond hair, but my dad has black hair. my moms mom has brown hair and my mom has blond hair. Every one also has a diffrent head type. i also learned that there are 23 chromosomes in the body, men have a diffrent chromosome from women, men have a Y and an X chromosome , there for women only have X chromosomes. X chromosomes are about 3 times larger than y chromosomes which mean that they carry more data.
I defiantly had the tools to complete the project but i am a slow worker so i could not finish. I also learned a technique that allow you to find out what someones of spring might look like, or what something will have in them. the biggest chalenges where identifying the traits, because I could not find much of a trait that more then 2 people had.

1. I learned that my family on both sides have many of the same traits. Although they look very different they have very similar traits.
2. I think we should've done this on the computer because I messed up and had to erase everything in restart. If it was on the computer that wouldn't have happend
3. I wonder why this gene system was made. I also wonder if this is the only way that living thins can be made. Like would aliens have the same system or a completely different one?
4. I learned that you can estimate the results of the children's traits. I also learned that it's always flipping a coin and that it's always chance. I also learned that you can have alleles that don't show up because they are recessive, but your child could have them.

What did you learn about your family through this project?
Well, I learnt that there are dominant traits scattered around the family. Some are more common then others. Also, lets say for an example Finn, he has a biggish forehead like our grandma's (moms side) father.
What did you learn about the laws of Inheritance for traits?
I learnt that you can inherit certain traits from people quite far back. Like the example I have before with my brother. It makes it easy using a square chart that helps calculate the genes of your parents/ancestors.
Do you feel like you had the tools you needed to complete this project? What were the biggest challenges? I feel like one of the biggest challenges was making it look good, because mine looks quite messy! The information was pretty easy to do, although its probably done wrong, keeping my hopes up that I did it correctly. Also the time limit. That had to be the hardest thing!
What do you still wonder about genetics?
I wonder whats the hardest and easiest genetic traits to find out. And maybe traits in animals, such as pelt colour or eye colour. If its different in animals or in humans. Or about injecting DNA into people before they are born or something like that to make them perfect (Finn told me about it awhile ago) and Scientists trying to find out the 'perfect' Genes or DNA.

1. I learned that a lot of people in my family have the same face shape as me.
2. Some thing I still wonder about genetics is how did people think of a punnet square. How did they know that it worked? Is there a way you can prove that a punnet square works? If so then what is the way?
3. Some thing that I learned about the inheritance of traits is that if your one of your parents has a recessive dimple there maybe a low chance you will get it but if both of your parents have dominant dimples than you are most likely to get dimples. There is still maybe a slight chance you might not get it but it is unlikely. Not impossible, but unlikely.
4. I felt like I did have the right tools to do the project. The challenge was actually finding the photos. Finding the photos was so hard especially because in a lot of my family photos people would be wearing sun glasses or be facing sideways in an angle so that you can't see their traits..

But even if my dad has a pointy nose I don't have a pointy nose.
2.
I feel like I had the tools to do this project, but if we would do this on a computer I think it would be a lot easier for me to do because I had a lot of people in my family and because my handwriting isn't that good it would be easier to do it on a computer. The challenges were that it was hard to finish my family tree because I have a lot of people in my family and I needed to find pictures for everyone and that took quite a long time.
3.
I still wonder if people can get a child which has black hair if both of your parents has red hair.
4.
I learned that you can partly know how a child is going to look if you have your parents genetics. I also learned that you have dominant traits and that one of you aren't genetics can be dominant.

Maybe I could have added more pictures because it was hard to find everyone in my family because my family is quite big.
3. I still am not quite sure about how to use the punnet squares. I kind of get it but not fully. It is still very confusing to me.
4. I learned that the punnet square is a square that figures out how people's children look like, or you can find out how the parents look like using the children's data.

1. I learned that many of my relatives have a lot of blue eyes and blonde hair. This is probably because that is how many people from Sweden looks like.
2. I learned how you get half of your genes from your mom and half from your dad and that you get the trait that is most dominant. You get one gene from both of your parents are your parents also have two which they got from their parents. I also learned that you can look very different from your siblings because it depends on how the traits line up.
3. I think that it would have been easier to have done this on a computer
and then print it out since it would have saved a lot of time, but other wise I had all the tools necessary. The biggest challenges was finding out what traits my great grandparents had since my parents did not really remember.
4.I wonder if its possible to have a child with for example black hair if both parents have full blonde hair and both of their genes are blonde. I also wonder what the most common traits are. Another thing I wonder is what determines if twins are identical or fraternal.

One of them is that most of my mom's side family has big eyes with dark eyebrows but most of my dad's sides family has small eyes with light eyebrows. I got the small eyes with light eyebrows. My sister got medium eyes with dark eyebrows and my brother got big eyes with dark eyebrows.
2. Do you feel like you had the tools to complete this project? But it was still kind of challenging for me to try to use words that we learned like dominant, recessive etc.
3.

1. I still wonder if my curly hair came from someone or if it's my own special thing.

2. I learned many more traits and interesting facts about my family. For example, my nose shape.

3. I think the pictures I got were good because most of them people were looking forward to the camera and it was easy to see similarities and traits for me. The biggest challenge was the learning the genetics part because many words were complicated for me but I was able to understand them so it was ok.

4. I learned that you can predict the chances of your kids strait with punnet squares.

The biggest challenges were finding traits that actually pass through the family. It was also strange how my dad and mom had glasses since, they were kids but I don't.
