1) Follows the rhyming scheme AABA
2) The A" lines are composed of iambic tetrameter
3) Line "B" is written in iambic trimeter.
4) Usually about something funny.

Iamb: metrical foot consisting of an unaccented followed by an accented syllable.
Foot: measuring unit in poetry.
Iambic tetrameter: a line consisting of four iambic feet.
Iambic trimeter: a line consisting of three iambic units (each of two feet per line).

There was an Old Man with a Beard

There was an Old Man with a beard,
Who said, "It is just as I feared!—
Two Owls and a Hen, four Larks and a Wren,
