Rafflesia arnoldii is the largest flower on Earth. As they are not pretty like other flowers, they have evolved and it releases rancid carrion smell to attract flies and other insects to visit and lay egg as well as pollinate to avoid them being extinct. Rafflesia is not the only flower that reeks. To keep the insects attract to them, they have been evolved five times to change their scent to avoid the flies and insects from discovering their 'dishonesty', which is realising that they are not laying eggs on a dead corpse.

The flower in the article is the largest one on Earth. It has bad smell because it needs flies and insects to help them carry their pollen to reproduce. They have the smell of lion faeces, dead rats and the carcasses of rock hyraxes. They can also produce heat to imitate a dead corpse as it often produce heat when it decompose. This flower is being 'dishonest' by attracting the flies and insects to pollinate it without giving them any pollen as food, that's why they have to constantly evolve to change smell to keep the insects and flies interested.
