What: They invaded Norandy, and it gave them a path to success

Why: They planned to take over continental Europe. It was the biggest amphibious battle in the world.

This attack from the Japanese made the U.S join the world war and made an enemy of the U.S. This attack killed over 2.400 US service men.

• This battle was Adolf Hitler's last offensive. the battle lasted 6 weeks, and America lost over 100,000 people. This was one of the cosliest battles

Born- 12 June, 1929 - died Febuary 1945

• Anne Frank was a regular kid who had many friends and a regular family

• The new laws made it so Jews couldn't own many things. Anne's father had a company, and he lost it all because of the laws

• This made Anne's father build a secret room Anne called the "Secret Annex". They hid there for a while until the Nazi's found August 1944 them and put them in a concetration camp then later died in Feburay 1945.

June 16, 1945

• A plutonium device was tested

• The code name of the bomb was "Trinity"

• The explosion vaporized all buildings in the area and turned the ground into all glass

1994-19945

• Many pilots grieved before going to a sortie.

• They used the plane to destroy enemy's and themselves

• They get ready by tightening a Hachimaki on their heads. They also drink a ceremonial cup of sake before take off

• prisoners were delivered by train and forced to walk 2 miles every night

• They also a couple people got killed by guards that thought "they where trying to escape" but people sae that they did nothing wrong

• October 3, 1935- 1941

• Ethiopia was one of the only independent countries in Africa, but it was invaded by Fascist Italy under Benito Mussolini.

• They used posious gas, aerial bombs, flame throwers, and concentration camps

• May 7, 1945

• The death/suicide of Adolf Hitler on April 30, 1945 Germany had no other choice but to surrender

• General Alfred Jodl signed the instrument of surrender on May 7, 1945

• This day is celebrated for V-E day.

December 8 - 23, 1961

• Defending agsinst the Japenese's naval attack

• Japan captured the island, but it boosted the American people's morale.

1944- 1946

• 824 enlisted soldiers and 31 officers completed a close-to-impossible mission of separating and mailing millions of pieces of mail from soldiers and their families/loved ones

• One of the few opportunities that women of color had to show that they aren't different from regular women

1939- 1945

• This made it less likely for soldiers to die from a gunshot wound or a shrapnel wound.

• Sodium citrate was found to stop the blood from clotting and it means that the blood could be stored for longer

• 1943

• These weapons were supposed to strike fear into the enemy's

• They started to create a weapon

  because they started to run out of raw materials for guns and ammo

• When testing the weapon, they found that it could snap a wooden board from 656 feet away

1940-1944

• These men received advanced training to fight enemies in WW2

• They had to simulate aerial combat and bombing exercises

• After completing their training, they were immediately sent to Italy, Africa, and the Mediterranean. In May 1944, all remaining trainees were sent to South Carolina, ending the Tuskegee presence in Michigan. 3 aircraft used by the Tuskegee Airmen are still missing and are waiting to be found in Lake Huron.

1931-?

• The soviets trained dogs to be suicide bombers for German tanks.

• They carried backpacks that carried pounds of heavy explosives. There was a lever on top that, when compressed, detonated the explosives inside.

• Over 40,000 dogs were trained, but few made it to their target. Nazis shot any dog in site they thought was a threat

1943-1944

• This was Germany's attempt to make a gun attachment that could shoot around corners.

• This attachment has 2 variants: a 30-degree bend and a 90-degree bend. It also came mounted with mirrors so you could see what you are shooting at

• This project performed poorly; many bullets snapped in half as they ricocheted inside the barrel, and it reduced the power and accuracy of the bullets being used. After a hundred or more rounds were fired, the attachment would snap in half.
