Point of View (POV) Introduction

Have you ever read a book where different characters talk throughout the book? Have you ever wondered what they might be thinking or what they might sound like? I have always wondered what the Grinch might sound like! I think the Grinch will have a deep, mean, and scary voice. In this lesson, we will talk about point of view and how characters in stories we read have different voices and thoughts! We will read and hear different videos and stories on how point of view works so we can think about it during our reading. We will also record ourselves reading with partners on how you might think a character will sound! By the end of this lesson, you will be able to know what point of view is, why it's important, and how we can show different points of view out loud.

After you finish watching the video, comment below where it says "Add Comment" and tell me about a book you read where two characters talked to each other. How were the characters different? Did they see things differently?

Here's my example: The Grinch and Cindy Lou Who from 'How the Grinch Stole Christmas!'

The Grinch's Point of View: The Grinch does not like Christmas. He thinks Christmas is just for annoying singing and presents.

Cindy Lou Who's Point of View: Cindy Lou Who loves Christmas. She thinks it is an amazing holiday to share happiness and love with friends and family.
