Twins are either born identical or fraternal. Fraternal twins are just like siblings, they only share about 50% of their DNA. However, identical twins are 99% similar. Twins play an important role in the study of human growth. Twins with the exact same DNA, can act and even look different. This is caused by environment and genetic influences. Twins help explain how powerful the effect environmental influences may be on a person. Even though twins come from the same family, share the same DNA, typically are raised together and look almost completely identical; their personality and they way respond to things can be completely different.
