So this outlook on heavy testing and constant work leaves many students feeling drained, and without self worth. Students tend to base a lot of self worth in how they preform in school, causing anxiety and depression.

The only option for schooling in Finland is public schools. In turn creating an equal system so everyone can get good schooling. When Finnish policy makers visited America this was a main topic for discussion because of how predominant private schools are in America. Sure, the private schools in America can output some of the best students, but what does that show for the rest of the United states who cant afford 60 thousand a year. There for getting rid of these private schools would benifit America but is not possible due to the sheer amount that there are.

The cultural attitude towards schooling in America is job oriented, much like the schooling system of 100 years ago. The unrelenting change for the better is what has American students so depressed. Ive been to alternative schooling in America and its leagues above the avg public school when it comes to personal growth, mental health, and interests outside of school.

America should reevaluate it's need for the large standardized testing system to see who they are really benefiting. If done I would expect a complete reform or upheaval of the system. In my opinion I believe the standardized testing system is too cutthroat and doesn't properly display student growth
