This facility aids young people between the ages of 12 to 18, however also to the age of 21, depending on their situation on drug use(Entrypoint Perth, 2017). DAYS offers treatment and support to young people who are threatened due to experiencing drug and alcohol related problem (Mental Health Commission, n.d.).

The Drugs and Alcohol Youth Service is a partnership between Mission Australia and Next Step. Mission Australia is a service organisation that provides family, community, employment, housing and learning services (Mission Australia, n.d.). Next Step is a government health service that provides treatments that associate with the individual’s alcohol and drug use (Western Australian Association for Mental Health, n.d.).

According to Mission Australia (2017), DAYS purpose is to assist young people who have been threatened by drugs and alcohol. The service gives a supportive and structured environment for them to complete a rehabilitation program. DAYS main focus is to help the individual both physically and emotionally until they can transition back into the community (Mission Australia, 2017).

But how do they engage young people?

Comprehensive assessment and case management is the start of the journey for youths in recovering. This part of the program will collect information about the background of the individual and then provide the right services.

Counselling, nurses, doctors and clinical psychology services are also provided for the youth. These services can engage youths by express their issues to professionals. This therefore can give professionals a source to help the individual.

There are also mentors that engage young people in creative means through art and music.

Helping men and women achieve their goal of Freedom from drugs and alcohol.

An initiative of Teen Challenge, Grace Fellowship was formed with the specific aim of helping former 'students' (so called because of the educational aspect of the program) to reintegrate into main stream society and provide support and encouragement for their families during this time. This can be a very trying time for young people and Grace Fellowship provides support for them in the next phase of their lives, whether that is study or work. As well, since the inception, a 'before-care' program has been developed, again providing support and encouragement for those young people (and their families) waiting for a place to become available.
