         <title>Space Travel History</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Space Travel has been happening since the 1940s.<br>Humans are explorers. We have been exploring the Earth since we've been here. But we've only been exploring space in the last century. The first space rocket was launched in 1942. The German V2 was designed by Wernher Von Braun, who later helped build the rocket that flew to the moon! <br><br>In 1947, the first animals were launched into space. Fruit flies were used to find out more about the affects on animals in space. Albert II, a tiny Rhesus monkey, was later launched into space and reached a height of 83 miles! In 1957, the first satellite was launched by the Russians. In November 1957, the Russian space dog Laika became the first animal to orbit the Earth.<br><br>Probably the most famous of all of the space explorations happend in 1969, when Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin flew Apollo 11 to the the moon. Neil Armstrong took one big step into history as he stepped on to the moon! Later on, in 1973 a Russian space probe explored Mars, but it failed to actually land on Mars. <br><br>And finally, the U.S. Space Policy set goals to send humans to an asteriod by 2025 and to reach Planet Mars by 2035!</div>]]></description>

         <title>How does a rocket work?</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Have you noticed what happens if you let the air out of a balloon? The air goes one way and the balloon moves in the opposite direction. Rockets work in much the same way. Exhaust gases coming out of the engine nozzle at high speed push the rocket forward.<br><br></div><div>Most modern launchers, such as Europe’s Ariane 5, are very complicated and weigh hundreds of tonnes at liftoff. Most of this weight is fuel, such as liquid hydrogen and liquid oxygen.<br><br></div><div>Rockets need so much fuel in order to overcome Earth’s gravity. Only when they reach a speed of 28 000 km/h are they travelling fast enough to enter orbit. <br><br></div><div>Most rockets are made up of two or three stages. When a stage has used up all of its fuel, it is separated to get rid of the dead weight. It then falls back (usually into the ocean and far from populated areas) or burns up in the atmosphere.<br><br></div><div>Large launchers often get an extra boost from rockets strapped onto the first stage. These may use solid or liquid fuel. They, too, are usually thrown away.</div>]]></description>

         <title>Hubble Telescope</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Hubble Telescope is a large telescope in space. It travels around the world at about 5 miles per second or every 95 minutes. That is as fast as driving a car from the east coast of the USA to the west coast in 10 minutes! Hubble is the weight of two adult elephants and is length of a large school bus. Hubble was launched in 1990. Hubble was made for taking better pictures of our solar system. Hubble has seen stars being born and dying. Scientists have learned lots about space thanks to Hubble.</div>]]></description>

         <title>Buzz Aldrin</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Buzz Aldrin was an astronaut. He was the second person on the moon! People should give him more credit because when one of the switches on the rocket ship to THE  MOON broke, Buzz Aldrin found a felt tip marker and wedged it into the hole. If it wasn't for Buzz they would have been stranded on the moon! [He still has the pen and the switch]<strong><br><br>Childhood<br></strong>Buzz Aldrin was born on January 20th 1930 in New Jersey. His mother Marian Moon, was the daughter of an army chaplain  and his father, Edwin Eugine Aldrin was a colonel in the U.S. AIR FORCE! In 1947 Buzz graduated from Montclair High School in Montclair. He then went to West Point Military School in New York. He was a good student and always obeyed the rules of discipline. He got a B.Sc. in mechanical engineering! <strong><br><br>Space flight<br></strong>Buzz Aldrin was accepted by NASA in 1963. He was part of a third group of men to attempt to pioneer a space flight . He also pioneered underwater techniques to help spacewalking. In 1986, Buzz Aldrin was assigned to the Gemini 12 crew. During one of their space flights, Buzz Aldrin made a 5 hour spacewalk -which is the longest spacewalk ever completed at that time. He also took a photograph of himself that would be called the first selfie in space. After Gemini 12, Buzz Aldrin joined Neil Armstrong  and  Harrison  Schmitt on the back up crew of Apollo 8.</div>]]></description>

         <title>Exercise in space</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>In space, exercise is really important, because if you don’t exercise your muscles will go all flimsy and you won't be able to use them!<br><br>The environment of the International Space Station isn't exactly hospitable  to the human body.<br>Human bodies have evolved here down on earth over millennia, so our bodies have adapted to excel in a gravity enviroment under the protection of our planet's atmosphere.<br>Perhaps the biggest change astronauts experience is bone and muscle loss.<br>But without gravity to work against, the bones lose minerals and the muscles waste away.<br>The international space station is equiped with three machines designed to give astronauts a full workout: a bicycle (that's stuck to the ground), a treadmill, and a weight lifting machine.<br>On each of these workout machines there are weights of up to 5,000 kg's so that you don't float away!a<br>Without gravity pulling your body fluids downward, they shift up into the chest and head, causing issues with the blood flow and vision. Eurrgh!!!<br>Most of these changes are temporary though and usually go away once astronauts return to earth. (phew!) <br><br></div>]]></description>

         <title>Planet Facts</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>Mercury:</strong> Is cold on one side and hot on the other. It is very hard to get to without crashing in to the sun. Mercury is  the smallest planet in are solar system. On Mercury one year is 88 earth days, one day is 59 earth days and it has no moons.<br><br></div><div><strong>Venus:</strong> Is pretty but deadly and is the hottest planet in are solar system plus it rains acid and can also rain diamond. Venus is the third smallest planet in the solar system. On Venus one year is 225 earth days, one day is 243 earth days, yes thats right one day is longer than a year and Venus also has no moons.<br><br></div><div><strong>EARTH:</strong> Is are home because it is the only planet we can live on. Earth is also the fourth smallest planet in are solar system. On Earth one year is 365.25 days, one day is 23 hours, 56 minutes and earth has one moon. <br><br></div><div><strong>MARS:</strong> Is the planet most like ours exept for the fact that there is no oxygen on it. mars is the second smallest  planet in are solar system. On mars one year is 687 earth days, one day is 24 hours, 37 minutes and mars has two moons.<br><br></div><div><strong>JUPITER:</strong> Is and stormy, and you would be a pancake long before you got to the middle. Jupiter is the biggest planet in are solar system. On Jupiter one year is 12 earth years, one day is 9 hours, 50 minutes and has as many as 67 moons,  possibly even more than that.<br><br></div><div><strong>SATURN:</strong> Has rings around it and is made of gas. Saturn is also the second biggest planet in are solar system. On Saturn one year is 29.5 earth years, one day is 10 hours, 33 minutes, Saturn also has 53 confirmed moons whith possibly nine exras.<br><br></div><div><strong>URANUS:</strong> Is cold, windy and lonely it is also unique in that it spins on its side while it travels, a bit like a ball rolling across the floor. Uranus is the third biggest planet in are solar system. On Uranus one year is 84 earth years, one day is 17 hours, 54 minutes and Uranus also has 27 moons.<br><br></div><div><strong>NEPTUNE:</strong> Is very blue and is extremely cold. Neptune is the fourth biggest planet in are solare system. On neptune one year is 165 earth years, one day is 16 houres, 7 minutes and Neptune has 13 confirmed moons and has one very dim one waiting to be confirmed.<br><br></div>]]></description>

         <title>Astronaut Training</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>It takes up to 2 years to become an astronaut but before you become an astronaut you must have a liecence in pioloting, a degree in engineering, math and/or science. Some have expieriance in medicin and chemistry. There is a 1% chance you will make it to the space program let alone go to space. 4,000-8,000 will start the program and only 8 will finish it. Some of the people that are chosen go on to walk on the moon while some take care of rockets. NASA need people from all catagouries most importently engeniring, chemestry and other areas of science. They're also intrested in curious and adventurious people. So if you have a degree in science and love learning, you could be NASA's next great astrounaut!<br><br>There is three training phases. The first phase is the Basic phase where you learn first-aid and basic space technology.<br>The next phase is the Advanced phase. Astronauts will continue to learn what they learned in the first stage just more complex.The last phase is Mission specific training where [depending on your job] all the exiting things happen like parachute jumping, survival training and even the VOMIT COMMIT [egzacly how it sounds [&lt;  &gt;].<br>                                                           [  O ] <br>                                                              <br><br><br><br><br><br></div>]]></description>
