Those who follow The Archers will know that Ryde is where Rob Titchener eloped with Helen Archer to get married. Of course all relationships have their ups and downs, but well before Helen brutally slashed poor Rob with a kitchen knife (resulting in her imprisonment), it's nice to know that (as reported in the local press) they chose Ryde, and specifically Barnacle Cottage* ^{_{(*Needs citation)}} for their romantic getaway (above).

• Wightlink Catamaran (foot passenger): 20 yards from the Train Platform. This takes you to the end of Ryde Pier, just 500yrds from Barnacle Cottage.
• Hovercaft (foot passenger): Catch the Hoverbus for a short ride to the Terminal. This takes you to Ryde Esplanade just 300yrds from Barnacle Cottage.
• Wightlink Car Ferry: A 10 minute walk but this takes you to Fishbourne not Ryde which is a couple of miles from Ryde with no Public transport link.
