The light is literally coming from the windows open blinds. When a new patient dies, the blinds shut. The light is being blocked out by the blinds. The closing down of the blinds is also symbolic to how a body closes down when it is reaching it's last moments of life. The light is a metaphor for life. When we die, we can either say the lights went out or we can say the person saw the light. There are many metaphors between light and life. This quote means personification. It means personification because it’s related to everyone in the year 2081 and their saying that everyone is the “same”. Like their looks, their mental and physical strength, and their intelligence. Also, it’s mentioning that no one will ever be better looking than someone or nobody will be stronger or quicker than anyone else. In addition, if someone was prettier than someone, they’d have to wear a mask so that they are not better than anyone else. Also, this was because of the 211th, 212th, and 213th Amendments to the constitution.

This quote means setting and description of a character. This is because Harrison Bergeron is a new character getting introduced to the story. Also, they are regarding Harrison as a genius which means he is different from other people because you're supposed to have the same amount of intelligence. Also, they mention he is athletic which means he is stronger and quicker than others. In addition, he is at a disadvantage because he is handicapped which means he has weighted on him that is supposed to slow him down. Lastly, they mention him as “extremely dangerous” and that’s probably because he is more athletic and smarter than others even though everyone is supposed to be equal in smarts and in physical activity.

I feel that I myself have experienced inequality in several different forms that have strengthened me as a person and have shaped me to become a stronger more self confident person.
