When faced with an illness in their classroom, teachers should be knowledgeable on the effective treatment while also having a confident attitude and not making the student feel uncomfortable. Some prevention measures that are important to consider as a teacher are constant hand washing, air quality, cleaning procedures, etc. It is also smart to do a daily health check of all the students each day to ensure the child is not only healthy, but so that they don't miss work, and their families don't suffer as well.

For a healthy diet, there needs to be emphasis on fruits and vegetables, whole grains, low-fat dairy, lean meat, and low saturated fats. Malnutrition is very common in young children. This could look both like under and over nutrition. The scope of the problem lies in food insecurity and obesity. Though malnutrition is very common, there are both long term and short term solutions. There are many things that schools can do such as child nutrition programs, changing portion sizes and vending snacks, getting parents involved, and many more.

A child's sexual development is gradual throughout their age, observations, and learned instances. It is common in young children, around preschool age, to start exploring private parts and gain an interest in theirs, as well as others, bodies. This furthers around age 4-6 when children will start to mimic dating behaviors and start using "naughty" words. Around age 7-12 is when children purposefully touch their private parts, start playing games that involve sexual behaviors, and really the age where a sexual interest towards others start to occur. While these are all typical in the development stages, it can start to be problematic. It is important to know how to react depending on the age category you are dealing with.
