Five Content Themes

Current Events/Country Case Studies:

post in reference to a specific country context situated within the wider thought of a concept, i.e. labor migration due to neocolonialism in the Philippines, racism in the US due to it’s history, caste system in India due to it’s history, etc. Any

country can be added to this subsection whether it is your home country or a given country ofinterest. Where possible, native knowledge should be included (this should be a priority) whether from other members of the JISJ or seeking external sources.

.

Mental Health Mondays

These posts will explore mental health access for students or for particular universities around the world. TBD if it is a weekly or monthly spotlight, but these posts will revolve around the resources accessible to students and the way universities have been receptive (or maybe not receptive) to issues surrounding student mental health and education.

Access Series

Making academia more accessible by providing synopsis infographics regarding articles. For example, Second-Hand Dreams by Prashad (2009) could be summarized in 3-4 slides. Hood Feminism by Mikki Kendall also 3-4 slides. These infographics would provide enough information for people to be engaged with the topic but also encourage them to check out the resource on their own.

Knowledge Infographics

Instagram has a thriving subsection of content creation which are dubbed as “infographics”. These multi-slide posts could be utilized by the JISJ in the form of disseminating truthful and accurate knowledge.

E.g. These infographics would explain key terms and make larger concepts more consumable while keeping them accurate and accessible. For

example, “imperialism” could be highlighted as a term. The infographic would define imperialism, discuss its historical usage, and then discuss it’s modern usage. Knowledge infographics would do this for key terms that are circulating in the media at the given time.

Such as, “imperialism”, “ethnic cleansing”, “Green New Deal”, “climate anxiety”, etc. The last slide of each infographic would provide sources for further learning on whatever topic is highlighted.

Activists/Organizations Spotlights

create a single slide “promotion” of an activist, organization, or institution. This essentially would be a “shout out” to highlight the work of whoever or whatever is chosen and what they contribute to social justice spheres or academia.

activist Tori Tsui could be spotlighted for her work with BadActivistCollective
