T-I would ask that if students have been assigned an afterschool detention because they have not followed our expectations that they not be given the option of two lunch detentions in order to make life consequences more convenient for them.

C - a way to track behaviors across the board. Everyone I have talked to about PBIS is frustrated that a behavior (such as cell phone violations) can be repeatedly happening in every class, but are not being added together so a consequence can be applied.

T If you want to see how well it is workingsplit staff in half and have one group follow PBIS consistantly and the other half handle it how ever they see fit and at the same time have them keep a record of who what when and where. At the end of a quarter/semester compare the results both as a group and look at individual students to see how their behavior differed from the PBIS group and the other group.

s - Everyone needs to be on board. At the very least if someone is not on board he/she should not be running the effort down. Let's find an easy way to track the minors because that is where you are going to be able to identify patterns of behavior. Also - when we report a major we often don't hear how it is resolved by administration and then you are left wondering if you have any leverage with the student. If we knew that our efforts were helping to correct behavior that might motivate more participation.

T- There needs to be a strict rule that every teacher must follow. Look at Memorials cell phone policy. There needs to be a mandatory meeting of all the students (possibly by class) and have administration set forth what the rules are and make it known there are no exceptions to the rules. Kids think this is all a joke and they have final say. Wasting class time over simple repetition that should be known by students.

Consistency is key. If we all don't do it, nothing is gonig to change. I don't see us "fixing" the cell phone issue because parents do not support it. Memorial's isn't as great as people believe. Talk to a Memorial teacher, they will tell you it isn't working as well as their admin wants people to believe.

Consequences need to be clearly defined and followed through on. Administration has to follow- up and do their job. Not shuttle it back to the teacher. If students got a clear message that misbehavior was going to be dealt with swiftly and consistently they would follow the line.

Make LESS paperwork.... we don't have time to fill out a form for everything. Notify parents through skyward. They get an automatic call for attendance.... have them get an automatic email for behavior.

T- Electronic documentation. There are way too many things we have to keep track of now and nothing has been taken off of our plates. We need to find an easier way to do this in order for this to be effective! Some days we don't even feel like we have admin support any more! We feel like we are out here all alone fighing this battle that the school board created with the cell phones when our class sizes keep getting larger. We have a hard enough time dealing with behavior issues and contacting partents let alone trying to even see if someone has a cell phone out in class! I wish I had a set of eyes on each side of my head and a monitor on each wall in my room! Perhaps then I could see what was going on in every corner of my room each minute of the day when I am working with individual students! I am only one person with 26 or more students.

T - Communication at all levels is lacking. Students commit the same offense in every class, but we don't know it. Admin will give a kid a break because they are doing well in other areas. Students are great at playing the grey areas. Parents aren't on board either. I had one parent tell me I shouldn't punish her child for being tardy because it was her fault most mornings.

PBIS gives the illusion that we are doing something to promote positive behavior, when we are all aware of the fact that the kids know right from wrong. ive it time, and....like Keeton said, the pendulum will swing. Be consistent; start earlier; more signs around the building; require ALL staff , including Administration, to impliment PBIS; get parents more involved with those students that don't follow PBIS. .
