these peaces of evidence show that courage is a survival skill because he could have left unheralded but he decided to stay even when the odds were against him and also when he was injured from a gun shot wound to the arm he had courage to get up and return fire.

these peaces of evidence show that cleverness is a survival skill because placing a hat on a top of your rifle is every clever and people need that to survive wether it may be for traps or hiding.
