This website gives the student a one-word prompt to write for 1 minute. I would use this in class to help the students with writers' block and be creative with what they are writing no matter the topic.

Having "book club" days, where after the class finishes the book, we have a group discussion much more like a book club rather than a book report.

Overall, there is a lot of communication in English classes. I think a fun way to incorporate communication would be to have the class put on what play we are reading.

Journals are a great way for the students to put their thoughts into words. It can also help prepare them for analysis and group discussion. Just thinking intentionally about what they are reading.
