         <title>Antietam</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Antietam was Lee's first attempt to invade the North. Despite fierce Union attacks, the South held its own. However, Lee was using his entire army and decide to withdraw to preserve his troops. The Union "victory" convinced Lincoln that the North could win the war. He released a draft of the Emancipation Proclamation five days later.<br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>This siege of an important city in Virginia was Grant’s final victory over Lee. He dug trenches around the city and fired gigantic cannon at the Confederate army. Lee fled with surviving Confederate soldiers in the month of April.</div>]]></description>
