Sounds from Maine. The geese flying south are very typical in the fall as we start a new school year. Winter is quickly approaching and animals are preparing for snow and the cold months. The crickets are common sounds in spring and summer, especially in the evenings. Maine is primarily a rural state, known for its rocky Atlantic coast, forests, and varied wildlife.

After the long, cold winters in Maine, it's always a sure sign of spring when we hear the peepers, small frogs found in vernal pools, marshes, ponds and wooded areas. Depending on the severity of the winter, we hear them in March, April and May. Recorded in Cape Elizabeth, Maine, USA.
