Some people listen to it passively; letting the notes and lyrics wash over them without thinking too deeply about what the song is communicating or why it was written. Others will listen intently and dissect any given part of it. Some may not listen to music much at all. A good amount of music, pop music in particular, is written in a mindset of the more mindless listeners. With lyrics not meant to entice deep emotions. Personally, I enjoy music that I have to think about; music that has a meaning. I do understand the intention of pop music. The world nowadays moves so fast and if you aren’t constantly running to keep up, you can very easily fall behind. People don’t always take the time to stop and smell the roses. Pop music has turned into more of white noise and a means of making money.
