Sandfield’s Ramadan Celebration

A huge thank you to our wonderful PTA for organising a very special event to mark Ramadan and celebration of Eid.

On Monday, the children were welcomed at the end of the school day with an array of delicious savoury and sweet treats, which were enjoyed by families and staff alike.

It was a lovely opportunity for our school community to come together and reflect on the key messages of Ramadan, kindness, generosity, gratitude and caring for others. Events like this remind us how important it is to celebrate the rich diversity within our school and to learn from one another.

Thank you once again to the PTA for creating such a warm and thoughtful occasion for everyone to enjoy.

Shakespeare Comes to KS2

On Tuesday, Sandfield was thrilled to welcome Anthony Glenn for a lively and engaging performance of A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

Anthony’s highly energetic, one-man show brought Shakespeare’s magical comedy to life, with several KS2 children stepping into the spotlight to play key characters alongside him.

The performance gave the children a wonderful introduction to Shakespeare’s world, complete with mischievous plot twists, hilarious misunderstandings, and timeless humour, all the elements that make his plays so enduring and enjoyable.

During the Q&A session afterwards, the children were fascinated to learn that it takes Anthony an entire year to learn, adapt, and rehearse each play in order to create his fast-paced and incredibly entertaining performance style. His passion and talent certainly shone through, keeping the whole audience captivated from start to finish.

We absolutely loved having Anthony with us and are already hoping he will return to inspire us again next year!

Netball Tournament 20/03/2026

The netball team put in a fantastic effort across their four games last Friday afternoon. They secured one strong win, faced two tough losses and earned a hard‑fought draw against Holy Trinity School — a result Miss McIllroy was more than happy to celebrate.

Their teamwork stood out throughout. They encouraged one another, played with real determination and showed huge improvements in their overall gameplay. Their progress and spirit make us incredibly proud.

Wishing everyone a very happy and sunny Spring holiday, from all the staff at Sandfield.

Please click here to see all the latest sports news and fixtures.

The Easter Bunny even hid eggs around our classroom filled with numbers and tricky words for us to find.

PE day for Reception Class is on Mondays

Year 3 & 4

This week, the children have been really busy planning, designing, making and evaluating their pulley system boxes. The children learnt about how a pulley mechanism works and investigated examples used in everyday life. They tried new skills such as measuring, cutting, and sawing as well as learning new vocabulary specific to DT.

They all worked really hard and produced some good examples of pulley systems which they self and peer evaluated in an exhibition at the end of the afternoon! Well done!

Year 3 Trip to The Albury Estate

Payment information is now available on your app, please make a note of the deadline of Monday 13th April 2026

PE days for Year 3 & Year 4 are Tuesdays & Thursdays

They explored how the heart, blood, and blood vessels work together to transport oxygen and nutrients around the body. As you can see, the children enjoyed combining scientific facts with eye‑catching diagrams to show their understanding in a creative and informative way.

PE days for Year 5 & Year 6 are Thursdays and Fridays
