hello. we were taking an exam on 6th floor when it happened. i was busy solving our exam problem solving when suddenly, the ground began to shake. at first, wala pa sha na-process fully sa akoa brain, i thought, "life goes on, muundang rani dayon" just like what kind of earthquakes i have experienced before na short-lived lang. but this time, seconds have passed, still mas nikusog iyahang intensity. we began to perform duck, cover, and hold. my initial thought was, "lord, bahala'g mabagsak sa major, dili lang mahugno ang building". funny it may sound but, that moment of my life, it was a testament that i truly value my life, i value the people around me—that i feared losing myself at that moment.

the earthquake was still ongoing, some of my classmates have collapsed, their asthma attacked them. while me? i was observing the peculiar scenarios i have never experienced before—the shaking objects around the room, the falling objects, people shouting and panicking—it was instilled in my head like a broken plate.

tbh, i wasn't that scared. sure, i was hopeful that i hope the building won't collapse, and i hope we won't die. but, at that time? it was weird because i never felt nervous nor scared. i was... i don't know. I can't figure it out yet. but, surely, I don't want to experience it anymore.

with this experience, i learned how humans possess different version of them that is waiting to be triggered—the fears, the anxiety, the panic—all that was stored inside them, waiting to be triggered by single scenario. and, it was traumatizing yet beautiful knowing that we were vulnerable with each other, no masks, no sugarcoating words like "im okay", it was so raw yet sad.

to everyone who felt scared and traumatized, we will get back. take care and don't forget to pray!
