The government is shaped as a representative democracy. They use a Presidential System like the system used by the United States. The government looks like a free society. They are very heavily based around the presidency. They are also described as a Parliamentary Republic, "where the executive branch derives it's legitimacy from and is accountable to the legislature."

The Philippines can be easily compared to the united states. The united states has obviously had a good influence on the Philippines. Their laws are very similar and The Philippines is governmentally built the same way as the united states.

How leaders are elected

Their leaders are elected almost identical to the United States. They are voted into office after going through a whole campaign and race against other candidates. What is special is that their terms are way longer. The Philippine's elections are every 6 years and they can only serve one term in office.

The rights for citizens are very good around human rights and making sure that they are kept in order. The laws are similar to the United States, freedom of speech and religion. These similarities are probably due to them being a part of the United Nations.
