Ability to Quickly Think of Ideas On the Spot

This year, while we were debating on what minimum wage should be, my group was not prepared for some of the arguments the other team brought up. Once it was my team's turn to speak on the arguments, everyone expected me to say something. Quickly, I came up with an idea. I cannot remember the idea, but I remember Mr. Hamilton complementing the idea, and later some of my group members thanking me that I came up with that on the spot. I believe that I am better at coming up with ideas on the spot than most people.

Ability to Analyze Data

Although it sounds random, I am very good at Fantasy Football. I make decisions based on new injuries, rising points per game, starting spots, schedules, and more. It seems as if the players are similar to stocks. This is similar to making some business choices. For example, if a wide receiver were to get a quarterback who was an all star the year before, he would be more of an attractive player, and in the same way if a new farming company were to partner with John Deere, they would be a more attractive stock. Even though it is just football players, it takes skills to know who to get at the right time, similar to stocks or even employees in the workroom. They might have problems with people, or forget what they need to do for the company at times, like a player who hates his coaches and forgets the plays. I have found that I am good at analyzing data and choosing which player to pick up at the right time and which player to drop at the best time.

Ability to Gain Trust

Once I say that I will do something, I go out of my way to do it. I can gain trust from people by telling people this. I value trust so much, that when I help people study, I worry about giving them wrong answers constantly and always go back and check. If someone asks me a question that might be on the test or quiz, I answer, then I go back and find where the answer is in the book or study guide to make sure that I am right. When I value trust so much, it is easy for someone to see that I value it, and for them to trust me with my task.

Strive for Efficiency

I love trying to become the most efficient person I can be. At a farm I go to in the summers, I work on a combine, which is a tractor that harvests wheat. The engine cannot harvest wheat fast; therefore, I have probably gone over ten miles an hour during only two percent of my time in the combine. But you better believe that I am always pushing the limits to get the job done quick. I do not try to get the job done quick for money, because no matter what I am getting paid by the hour. I get the job done quick because the wheat needs to be harvested and the quicker the better. I try to go as fast as possible to be the most efficient, and I never stop trying to be more efficient, because no one can ever reach the most efficient way to drive a combine. I have to think about harvesting all of the wheat, not going to fast so that the grains can be seperated, and more. Ultimately, my passion for efficiency is much stronger than others.

People and Teams

I try to be a very unselfish team player. Because I play a team sport, I have experience working with others to reach a goal, and I have experience working my tail off for the team. This year on varsity basketball, I knew I had to work for my spot on the team because of my underclassman position. I made sure to be a ball of energy, and grab rebounds and play harsh defense. It was not the most fun, but it helped me help the team. I think I can put these skills in my future job, because the ability to relate to people and show them that you are part of their team is huge. It gets people on your side, it helps people remember your service, and people generally like and respect you more.

Greenville University

My uncle went to Greenville, and he is a very successful financial advisor. I would make sure to focus on business, but also consult my uncle, my dad, and my older brother on which classes to take and what would benefit me the most. If I go to Greenville, it would most likely be to play basketball.

Oklahoma State

Oklahoma State is a school that a lot of my family has been to. My cousin goes there right now, my grandpa ran track there, my mom played basketball there, and more. I think that it would be cool to go to a school that I have thought about going to for years and studying farming and working at the farm after.

Financial Advisor

I think that I could be a good financial advisor because I get so serious about what I do and say when it actually matters. Like I said earlier, I cannot even tell people the right answer for some notecards until I find it in the book. I also would seek advice from my uncle Ben, and my uncle Justin, who are both financial advisors. I would like to do this because I am always trying to find efficiency for people and I enjoy the feeling that I helped someone make money.

Farmer

My grandpa and uncle have a successful farm, and I would love to try and join the farm with them. It is hard to find workers in the middle of nowhere, and my grandpa has said multiple times that he would try to get as many of his kids or their kids as possible to work for him. My uncle would like to see my brothers and cousins work at the farm as well. If I were to go to the farm though, it would be some hard work and I would probably go to Oklahoma State and study agriculture.

Like I said before, I would ask my uncle questions about what he did in his career. I already have asked him mulitple questions about how he manages his customers and I have gained a general undertanding about how he does his work.

My grandpa and other uncle are great farmers, and I could ask them if they had a job for me after college, and what type of job I would get and how much I would make. They could also be mentors for me, because I would be able to buy fields that they could harvest with me. They could help me make decisions along the way and give me great advice.

Accountant

I know that accountants are seen as a boring job, but I actually thought that being an accountant would be a good idea for a job. After Mr. Barber talked about how his company is looking for accountants all of the time, and the start off pay is good, I would like to be one. I am good with numbers, and I am really good at mental math, so I would not hate the idea of being an accountant.

My family knows me best, and I believe that they could help me find the best job for me. After all, I have barely spent any of my life without any one of them by my side guiding me along my life. Any of my big life choices, I will make sure that my brothers and parents agree that it is the right choice for me.

Sports Coach

While I am still a young, unmarried adult, I think it would be a great side hustle being a middle school basketball coach or a summer AAU coach. I do not want to go any further into the business because I want to focus on my main job at the time, but I feel that it would be a great second source of income to save up and a great way to impact some lives in a good way.

Northwestern Oklahoma State

This is where my uncle T went to college and played basketball. I would love to study agriculture there and also play basketball. I would also like to stay closer to home than Illinois, and I would be able to go up to the farm on weekends to work.

Physical Activity

No matter what I do, I want to have time to lift, run, play basketball or whatever I may do when I am older to stay active. That is why no matter what profession I do, I want to be a part-time basketball coach in order to stay around the sport. I may try to do some leagues for older guys if I am in an enviroment where the opportunity arises. Whatever I do, I want to stay active while I do it, because I want to be a good steward of my body and also meet other players.

Tractor Experience

Even though I am a city guy from Frisco, I actually know how to operate multiple types of tractors on the farm. Last summer, I mainly drove a John Deere 4020 loader tractor that has been around about 50 years and a S680 that was only 5 years old. I have drove the combine for multiple years, and I feel that I have the advantage over most people with my experience operating these machines.
