Since I was adopted from China, I thought It was was fitting to make a stork. The red at the bottom symbolizes the Chinese Flag colors and me in the basket as a red puff ball. I recycled a Birthday balloon, to make to make the shape of my stork, which i thought was a very fitting material. The AirPod box that supports the stork, shows how I'm currently living life in America.

As a child, my family and I would always travel to the Japanese garden in Houston. We would stay out there for hours and enjoy the peacefulness of the running water over the large bridge, the sound of the birds chirping, and the fish swimming gracefully through the rocks. The garden allowed us to drain away our troubles and connect us more as a family. The materials I used were toothpicks, cardboard, paper, rocks and minerals, beads, yarn, and plants like bamboo and jasmine.

I wanted to show that I still hold on to the perspective of a child. Growing up I had to really take care of my brother so it left little room for immaturity. This made my early teen years very difficult in learning to grow up properly for myself and I learned that the world is happier, life is happiest in the perspective of a child.

We also moved a lot , but no matter where we were we always were together. I used a lot different things to make this happen: card board, shells, string, paint colored pencils, tissue paper etc.

I didn’t have the best life growing up, I had to mature faster than others, I was exposed to many things at a young age I had parts of my childhood that were extremely dark, but there were times that were also amazing. But for this piece I wanted to focus on the innocence aspect and escapism I had as a kid that played a huge part into the person I am now, I had a great imagination, I enjoyed all things that included princesses, pink, and fairies. I am extremely emotionally attached to my house and I believe it has its own Personality, it is something that made me happy as a child and still does now.
For this sculpture, the things I used from my house were: childhood toys, a Halloween mask from the early 2000s, beads I used to use to make friendship bracelets, and cardboard from a recent gift. Along with a great amount of pink paint
