         <description><![CDATA[<p>A transducer is any device that converts one form of energy into another. They are also known as probes.</p><p><br></p><p><strong>Ultrasound Transducers perform (2) main functions: </strong></p><p><br></p><p>1). During transmission, electrical energy from the u/s system is converted into sound.</p><p><br></p><p>2).During reception, the reflected sound pulse is converted into electricity. </p><p><br></p><p><strong>There are 6 main types of transducers</strong></p><ol><li><p>Mechanical</p></li><li><p>Linear Phased Arrays</p></li><li><p>Annular Phased Arrays</p></li><li><p>Linear Sequential Arrays</p></li><li><p>Convex/Curved/Curvilinear Arrays</p></li><li><p>Vector Arrays</p></li></ol><p><br></p><p>Throughout these slides, I will be discussing what each transducer is and what roles they play in ultrasound.
