Sunset Ducks

I feel that this photo gets its strength from the very slight motion blur in the feathers of the ducks because it literally gives a feathering effect and makes the ruffles visual appealing. The crests formed by the ducks wake in the left also reflect nicely in contrast with the smoother waters to the right. Additionally, the use of color, I thought, was suitable because of the orange-ish tones from the afternoon sunset. Lastly, I like the use of space directed towards the right side of the photo, as the ducks are traveling in that direction.

Wooden Arch

The elements that I liked in this photo were the uses of leading lines of the dirt path and framing in the wooden archway. In processing, the cropping allowed the image to focus on the space for the shadows of the arch angled towards the right. In regards to rule of thirds, I ended up lining up the long, straight path along the left thirds line.

What I enjoyed about this photo was the reflection created in the stream-line parallels and the overall blue, cool tones of the photo. The leading lines and triangle composition works well, in my opinion, but I would have liked the lamp to be more centered, and for less noise to be present.

The Park

The photo utilizes a deep depth of field, rule of thirds, line, and color. The eye is drawn by the ground path on the left, the splitting branches of the tree, and the empty space between the trees revealing a bright blue sky. I like this image since you can almost feel the wind if you were to stand inside the photo. It is a very calm scene and is really in touch with the nature of the park.

I feel that this picture uses diagonal lines well in the wooden spoon which leads the eye to the center of the bowl. The photo also makes good use of color, specifically, the amber color of the wood mixed with the pure white grains. I also liked the glow created by the plastic light diffuser (made from melted plastic bags). I also saw a nice contrast in tone in the warmer tones of the spoon with the cooler tones of the background and rim of the bowl.

Although the photo seems to have become fuzzy in being downloaded here, I thought that the photo was very crisp and showed off the lines of the spinning top well. I like the warm glow around the whole photo and I also like how the pinnacle of the top lies on the left thirds line. The empty space to the right also takes up about a third of space.

I really liked the use of color in this picture in both the bright blue of the caretaker's jacket and the yellow of the cat's casts. I also used rule of thirds in placing the cat on the top right thirds line and the lanyard on the left thirds line.
