Eric Newby became paralyzed after a car accident on the night of his high school graduation. He is able to play rugby in a wheelchair using a specialized sports wheelchair that is lightweight and easily movable. He also has to have a lot of upper body strength. A mental struggle that he faced was having to completely relearn how to live, since he was not paralyzed until he was a young adult. That must have been crushing for him. If I were in that situation, I would have felt hopeless. I don't think that I would have felt as motivated to get into a sport as he did.

-Miss Lowe
