I grew up as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and it has shaped me to be the person I am today and all my life choices. It’s not just a religion to me, it is my life, my way of living. Being a Christian has helped me to overcome my hardest trials and has taught me to love and support others of all race, ethnicity, sexual orientation and more. I have been able to serve others in capacities I never though I could, I have developed attributes I never thought I would be able to obtain, and I have found hope and meaning in my life. Being a follower and believer in Christ has really helped me decide my path and future and the standard I hold myself to.

It was a long and painful transition and sometimes it still is. But I look at it as a great opportunity to learn and grow to be the bigger person. I learned so much from my parents’ divorce, I learned how important family is, how to open up and speak my mind, and how important it is to listen to someone’s problems instead of constantly fix them. My siblings and I have grown closer and have remained really close even till today. I was able to have some amazing people enter my life because of the divorce that I never would have met on my own. I learned about forgiveness, what true love is and how important service is to one’s happiness.

It is expected of us to be able to play any sport and be relatively good at it. I grew up at first a dancer, then I became a soccer player. I’ve been playing soccer ever since I was 5 and had a great opportunity to play for the BYU Hawaii woman’s soccer team. Soccer was a big part of my life because it was my outlet for stress and tension that was happening in my family during my teenage years. I left everything out on the field, and it became more than just a sport, but my life. I slept, ate, played, repeat and since all my siblings were like me, our family vacations were going to soccer tournaments. Soccer has taught me to work hard, how to have passion, built my self-confidence, leadership skills and the ability to work well with others.

Being a very athletic family, we were highly competitive with one another. My whole life I tried to beat my siblings in taking the hardest high school classes and getting the best grades out of all of them. Granted, it never really turned out that way, but it helped keep me focused on my future and gave me the opportunity to go to college and start on the path to a successful future. I love learning about all the different subjects and different topics and learning form all the different styles and points of views of the professors. If there was a career where you were paid to sit during college lectures, that would be my top choice.  I don’t like to read about what I am studying, but I love to listen to what is being taught. I think this has helped me to develop my listening skills and how to take apart and analyze a conversation.  Learning is one thing that I hope to never stop doing or become too prideful to do it.

Animals we my people in my childhood and are my source of happiness and warmth. But out of all the animals we owned, our dogs were absolutely my favorite. The day I was old enough to have my own dog, it was the best day of my life. With dogs you can create this special relationship, this loyalty to one another, almost like a child to its parent. I think dogs have helped me to feel needed and loved because no matter what, they loved me and needed me to play with them and basically keep them alive. Dogs have helped me understand sacrifice and see the rewards of my hard work. Dogs also helped me to understand that no matter what I need to love everyone because you never know what they’re dealing with.
