We spend Christmas Eve with my mom and her family. We usually sit with Santa (he visits for the little kids and always walks in the house to Bruce Springsteen's "Santa Claus is Coming to Town"), eat a big dinner that consists of pasta and the "7 fish" (an Italian tradition, although I am a vegan so I do not eat the fish), exchange presents and then watch a Christmas movie before bed. We wake up at my mom's house and then go to my dad's house. We exchange presents in the morning, ride bikes to my uncle's house down the street, and then enjoy a laid-back dinner with my dad's side of the family at my house. My dad always makes his famous oatmeal-raisin cookies that everyone gobbles up.

Ever since I have been in a relationship with my boyfriend, I make time to go to his house with his family in the morning after biking to my uncle's house. We usually have brunch and spend time with the 3 toddlers in his family. It is very fun to watch them play with their new toys!

This year, and in the years to come, I hope to make new holiday traditions in my new home.

We have over 30 people in our house on New Years. We sometimes go to my Baba and Dida's house (grandma and grandpa) and we have all of our family over. We eat something called Plazinda which is not a Russian food but it is the most delicious food ever. It is a triangle crust and inside is cottage cheese and greens. It is so good. We also eat Borsh. Borsh is a Russian soup. It's mostly known as the red soup. It has potatoes and greens inside. We also eat fried potatoes and fried mushrooms. My favorite is smitana salad. Smitana (sour cream) is mixed in a salad that includes of ta motes, cucumbers, onions, and greens. It is really good.
