This is where my mom is from and it holds a lot of great memories for me. We go at least once a year in the summer, but the most memorable time was when we went during December and got snowed in. The snow was the same height as the house. My mom's whole family lives there so when we visit, it's always a big event and we always have something going on.

I was born and raised in Fort Mill. It's a town on the smaller side where you go to school with the same people from kinder garden to 12th grade. It is a town full of very privileged people so I felt out of place and wasn't exposed to a multitude of things. My perspective on things was very limited and one sided but it taught me to seek out other peoples opinions and perspectives. I learned that there's not just one right answer.

Boston has always been my goal. Ever since I was a little kid, I've wanted to be a lawyer. Around age 12, I flew to Boston for the first time and instantly fell in love. My older cousin was touring the BU campus and I tagged along. Instantly it's where I knew I wanted to be. It's my dream to attend law school and start my career here. Something about it provides a sense of home to me and it's where I see myself in the future.

Jacobs graduated here with a BFA in sculpture and creative writing in 1979, two years after he completed his AFA. He is described as a visual artist as well as a poet. Many of his collages have been collected and placed in Museums such as The Museum of Anthropology in Berlin and the Sothern plains Indian museum along with a few others. In the book Living Nations, Living Worlds, his poem "Trudell" showcases the fear instilled in the Native American people from what the American people did to them. It shows how scared they were and how they were forced to change or they would be killed.
