Sustainability Solution

My sustainability solution is to regulate the water. By not letting the the company have control of the water anymore, it would automatically stop the dumping of mercury in the water. Many people use this for fishing, bathing, washing clothes and many other everyday uses. After regulating the water and seeing what goes into it, the next step would be to have government officials cleaning up the already contaminated water. They would wipe out all the dead and diseased fish and wildlife and replace them with relocated and healthy wildlife. To complete this job it would take hundreds of government certified scientists and volunteers as well. Tools would be handled by the government and the company that is responsible for polluting the water. The goal would be at the end of every year for a 3 year period to have the fish, wildlife to be increased by 33% and have the mercury content decreased by 75%.

The people of Kumamoto prefecture, Japan learned that the city focuses on the reconstruction and recovery of social inclusion, environmental conservation and the promotion of cultural and spiritual heritage. Minamata has used the neighborhood study method, Jimotogaku, and a people-centered vision to convert a city famous for industrial pollution and an ongoing environmental disaster into a model environmental city.
