Accused of Land grabs, stock watering, and bribes. He once won control of a railroad company from Vanderbilt by issuing false stock, and then bribing New York regulators to approve the sale. As a result, he had few friends and was largely shunned by New York society, though he died a rich man.&nbsp;<br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Jay Gould was on born May 27, 1836, in Roxbury, New York. In the 1860s, he became a stockbroker on Wall Street and manipulated the price of stocks. In 1868, he used illegal methods to issue 100,000 shares of new stock for the struggling Erie Railroads. In the 1880s, he was pushed out of the Union Pacific Railroads, but regained control in 1885. He died on December 2, 1892 in New York City.</div>]]></description>
