The picture with the pouting child shows the authors perspective as a child. As a child, the writer felt anger towards her mother because she felt neglected most of the time. I also felt neglected as a child as my parents were constantly at work. The two children playing video games shows the happiness she felt when going over to her friends house. This demonstrates the jealously the writer felt because she could not experience the great dinners and fun play rooms at her own house. Her friends house was more so a dream life for the writer. I have personally experienced many hard ships in life that hurt me, but learning to grow from it has helped me mend my heart. Perspective is also another important theme when it comes to this essay. From the perspective of the child, her mom was never around for her. Contrary to her beliefs, her mom was very sad that she could not hold her daughter. Now looking at my childhood from an adult perspective, I can understand that from my parents perspective they worked very hard to provide for me!
