In this book by Bethany Griffin, the main characters are twin siblings Madeline and Roderick Usher who are about 17. Throughout the book, we get flashbacks to the kids lives when they were young and their house’s strange history. Madeline, and by extension, us, learns that the house is trying to hurt or possibly even kill her when her brother is sent away. As she tries to dodge the dangerous malady probably passed down to her by her now deceased parents, she discovers the strange truth of the House Of Usher and the strange people who have lived and worked there. The people who like this book are people who like suspense and who like thinking something and there's something else.

Lockwood and Co: The Screaming Staircase is a good book, it is very suspenseful and will keep you reading.  Lucy Carlyle, a teenage girl, joins a small company called Lockwood and Co. that rids ghosts or ¨visitors" of places or things. Lucy and Lockwood go on a somewhat routine job of ridding  a ghost from a house when it goes terribly wrong. They try stop the visitor using greek fire, but instead they find themselves in major debt by burning down the owners house. A few weeks later they get a strange call from a wellthy businessman named Mr. Fairfax, he has a mansion that is filled with visitors and people have died trying to rid them. He gives them a chance to rid the the mansion for a lot of money,  but is there a more sinister plot behind his actions?

The king is cruel and selfish and really doesn't care about his only family member, his son who is friends with Alex. They need to end the war by mentally or physically hurting the King. They have a plan but there are traitors and lots of bad people with sorcerers as well. There are secret passages in the palace but only certain people no how to get to them and where they lead. But there's a problem, people know Alexa's a girl, luckily only three people.

The Fall is a murder/ horror mystery combo.

The Transatlantic Conspiracy is murder mystery that takes place in 1908. Rosalind is a 17 year old girl staying in London with her best friend Cecily and her older brother Charles while her parents work in the USA. Rosalind receives a letter from her father who just built the 1st underwater train called the Transatlantic express. The letter says that Rosalind must leave England to go on the maiden voyage of the transatlantic express. Cecily and Charles decide to join Rosalind on the maiden voyage. When they are on the train its all fun and games until Charles suddenly disappears causing everything to turn upside down. After this there are many mysterious murders and suspenseful moments where Rosalind has to learn to trust no one. This story was a little to confusing and it seemed too hard to understand. I thought it was very suspenseful. It included a lot of detail about the olden days and a man named Mr. Merrick living in a hospital. Mr. Merrick or Joseph is also known as the elephant man. He is a handicapped man who needs a maid. His maid is named Evelyn and she helps him to do things sometimes out of her will. But as the days go on Evelyn becomes uncomfortable and starts getting haunted by the rippers dead. the main character Madeleine Usher is forced to stay inside from a mysterious sickness that holder her, her family and past relatives captive in the house. the sickness  causes the family to go insane and believe that the house is "watching them". doctors are a constant recurrence in the house for the purpose of trying to cure the Ushers from sickness or as the family calls it their "curse."
the curse is said to be made by the house for the family believes that the house is alive and will not let them leave even if it means killing them. Madeline though will do everything in her power to escape the house and its curse. the only question is, will she make it out alive?
