Family and culture have a big effect on a person’s health. Families influence health because “effective parenting...can prevent negative behaviors and promote prosocial behaviors” while high stress or conflict “reduce children's emotional security and reinforce aggression.” Culture also affects health by shaping what people believe is normal or acceptable, which “supports and challenges health beliefs, practices, and behaviors.” Peers are another influence because “you learn from them, and they learn from you,” and they can affect both good and risky behaviors. For example my family always encouraged me to eat healthy and exercise. This made me more active and careful about what I eat. It was a positive impact because I developed healthy habits that I still follow today.
