The RSAF has undertaken a significant role in Singapore's military defence strategy since its formation. It has been considered by various analysts as being the most technologically advanced air force in the region, with the ability to successfully continuously act as a strong deterrence from potential hostile nations as well as defending the city-state's airspace.^[3] The current Chief of Air Force is Major-General Kelvin Khong, serving since 2019.

As of 2021, the RSAF uses four air bases domestically, most notably at Paya Lebar and Tengah, as well as at civil airports such as Changi and Seletar. It also has overseas detachments in various countries, most notably in Australia, the United States and France. In 2021, the RSAF had a strength of 8,000 active personnel and 319 aircraft.^[4]

The Republic of Singapore Navy is our nation's first line of defence. We protect Singapore's sea lines of communication and contribute to regional peace and security. 

In peacetime, this mission involves keeping a sharp eye and maintaining continuous surveillance on the Singapore Strait, acting as the vanguard against sea robberies, piracy, terrorism and unwanted incursions.

To do this, the RSN works closely with national maritime agencies, as well as the wider international community. Keeping the seas in our region and beyond safe and secure will allow our maritime nation to go on flourishing, and our maritime region to continue growing.

Our Crest

The RSAF crest has come to symbolise the all-encompassing role air defence plays in Singapore's national security. It consists of the National Coat of Arms - a crescent moon and five stars upheld by a lion and a tiger - supported by the silver wings of the Air Force within a bowl of golden laurels.

The national banner of a young nation - symbolised by the crescent moon - is Equality, Peace, Progress, Democracy and Justice, as represented by the five stars. The banner flies high on the RSAF silver wings as it stands proud on a plane of laurels, a mark of excellence, purity and universal brotherhood.

Our Roundel

The RSAF logo is made up of a Red Lion Head within a Roundel. An accepted national symbol, the Red Lion Head expresses courage, strength and resolve with the five flowing manes representing the nation's five beliefs. The roundel, a symbol adopted by air forces worldwide, signifies unity of purpose.

As an integral part of the nation's defence force, we are committed to giving our best to Singapore. Just take a look at our advanced weapons systems. More important, however, is the quality of our people. At the RSAF, our common values bond us. And in unity, there is strength.
