I think that a secret is always a lie because if you are telling someone something and if there is another person around and you are not letting that other person hear it you are telling a secret and a lie.

I think it actually depends..Sometimes secrets are just secrets. If you don't tell anyone that's a secret. But sometimes people have to come up with a lie to hide the secret. So it could be a secret where you don't tell anyone or a secret where you come up with a lie to hide it. A lie is where something isn't true. So it depends in the situation.

I think that it depends on the situation to tell. You can tell a lie to hide a secret but you can not tell a secret to hide a lie because it just wouldn't make sense that way. In Marty's situation it would be the same but in other situations it might not be. A secret is something that you keep from someone but a lie is telling someone something that is not true. That's why I think that my statement is true.

I think it depends because if you have a secret hand shake you are keeping it a secret among people another reasnoe is you could be proteceint someone but if you lie you most of the time its mean and that is why I think it depends.

I think that a secret is a lie because if you tell someone a secret you would't tell someone else that secret because if you did it wouldn't be a secret any more. Plus if you told someone a secret if you did tell someone else that secret you would not be holding a secret because a secret is not something you tell more than 2-4 people.:);)

I think telling a secret not lying because. If you don't say anything than it inst telling a lie. but i'm little bit in the middle because someone probably going to ask you.

Secrets aren't lies, here are my thoughts;

I don't think a secret is a lie, but a secret can be protected with lies. You can throw someone off your scent with a lie, so secrets and lies are definitely allies. Because you can protect secrets with lies, they seem the same, but they aren't. A secret is a truth that is shared between people. A lie is untrue and used to cover things, truthful things, that one doesn't want to share.

I think that a secret is a lie because you are not telling anyone if they are asking about anything. So if it involves them or somthing that they should know it is a lie:)

I don't think secrets are a lie because it depends on the situation. Like if you have a friend and you never told her/him that you like you have a tutor for math then they ask you what you do after school your basically not lying to them . But they can sometimes be lies because like i was saying you never told your friend that you have a tutor for math then they ask you what you do after school and you tell them a bunch of lies then it is a lie . So secrets can be a lie but sometimes they are not a lie.

Secrets and lies are not the same thing. For example, if your keeping a secret and someone asks you about it and you tell a lie instead of telling them the secret that your keeping, the lie (or lies) are protecting the secret.

I think it depends on what the secret is if it is about someone else and you tell that person that you weren't talking about them that is a lie if it is the other way a round it would not be a lie.

I think that a secret isn't a lie because you use secrets   to cover up a lie so they go along, but they aren't the same. If they were the same than word in inventors would have called it one or the other.  Also if someone  says  that there  going to the library, but really going to a party, that's a secret and a lie because  the secret is the part that your keeping to yourself( going to the party) and the lie is the part that you tell( going to the library).  They relate but aren't the same, but a situation as in my example there are 2 parts in a situation  like that , the secret and the lie.

I think a secret is a lie and also isn't. because if your at dinner and someone asks you what your thinking right now and your thinking of the secret and you don't tell them and say something else that's a lie. But if you have a secret and know one asks what your thinking then it's not a lie.

I think a secret is sometimes a lie because in the book Shiloh Marty is lying , because he says that he isn't hungry but he wants to feed Shiloh. But a reason when it is not a lie is when someone doesn't question you or anything that is why I think it is sometimes a lie.

I think a secret is not always a lie it just depends on the situation that you in at that time. For example if I were to have a secret kept from all of my friends and my friends asked me if I had a secret.Then let's say I lied and said,

"No I don't have any secret of any sort."

Then a secret would be a lie. It isn't a lie when you just have a secret.It's the things that you do to cover up the secret that makes it a lie. Thanks for reading!:)

It depends what kind it is.If it is a good thing and you don't tell it is kind of a lie.
