Some things that went well were the idea of the lesson. The kids enjoyed matching the shape on the SMART board to show me what they knew after the review to the tune of little, little, star using my shape cards.. They were excited to help me and their other friends work on shapes, so I am glad they enjoyed the lesson overall. They all enjoyed the book Mice shapes as well. They all participated in the singing of the review cards and got the shapes right after the second time before the matching quiz on the SMART board.
 What did you like about your experience?
I enjoyed watching the kids faces light up when they knew the answer to the questions I was asking of them. I also, as weird as it sounds, liked it when the kids made a mistake because it showed them that it was a chance to learn rather than having to know each shape. I just told them "hmm that doesn't seem right, because that shape has 3 sides. Let's call on a friend for some help okay?" the student would then help the other correctly, then I would say everyone tell the student who made a mistake to say " It's okay friend! We are all learning! You're still cool!" they all repeated this back to the friend which created a more positive environment for learning while also teaching them that mistakes are okay. For the most part they got all the shapes correct and I was proud of my lesson. I was really sad that we did have some technical issues about half way through where I had to improvise. The touch screen of the SMART board wouldn't connect, so I couldn't have them drag. I quickly improvised. Even though this wasn't my fault, to be honest, it really embarrassed me because the kids had to do things in a more difficult way by using the computer mouse to click and drag. This was hard for them considering their age, but I was able to help. Even though things like this happened they still used technology and still got the concepts I was trying to get through to them. Sometimes things don't work, so I had to take a step back and realize things happen afterward..  Otherwise this went really well.

I think next time I would have a better plan B just incase there were technical difficulties like there were. I immediately thought I wished I would have brought my i Pad, so we could have used KEY Note. This would have made it easier for my 3 year old's to click and drag as well as, use the pen for circling shapes like the original plan was. But me, the silly teacher did not think she would run into this issue. Things happen. I learned my lesson from that one, but am happy the kids and I pushed through and they still learned the concepts of basic shapes. 

Yes, my students met the objective of learning their basic shapes. We will continue to review them to keep these things fresh in there minds. I know they achieved this goal, because after reviewing the shapes using the cards and my song they completed the song by themselves as well as did the matching game on the board with me correctly. The board was my way of testing their knowledge after going over this concept. While the read aloud book was playing at the end, my students were calling out the names of shaped they saw in the book aloud. In the end I was proud of my kiddo's for pushing through the difficulties of technology at such a young age, and still successfully learning the concept.
