This page is basically about the history of the EMS that we've had. Also, I will be talking a little bit about the American Revolution, the Civil War, and the World Wars. I will also tell you about what happens when someone is a patient in an ambulance, or a helicopter. I will tell you some history of the EMS. I will also speak a little of the American Red Cross, American Heart Association, NAEMT, NREMT, etc.

American Red Cross

American Red Cross helps people by using 5 core services. The first is Disaster Relief. The ARC responds to approximately 70,000 disasters a year! The ARC provides food, shelter, health and mental services to those affected by disasters. The second service is Supporting America's Military Family. They help people find ways to respond to and cope with military news. The third service is Lifesaving Blood. People provide more than 40% of America's blood supply each year when nearly 4 million people donate blood. The fourth service is Health and Safety services. They provide classes to learn things such as CPR. Each year, more than 9 million Americans participate in their training programs, including: first responders, educators, babysitters, and people who want to be prepared to help others in an emergency. Last but not least is International Services. There are more than 13 million volunteers in more than 187 countries.

American Heart Association

The American Heart Association has been around for a while. This is its 50th Anniversary! On their website, http://www.heart.org/HEARTORG/, they have different facts to help others who don't know much about health and danger signs. The first thing I noticed was that they have a whole page dedicated to the AHA stories! Also, they have tips and facts to help you know when someone needs help and what you should do for them. Others things the AHA includes are headline stories, an interactive library, videos, a guideline resource center and a place to donate. Something that I thought was cool and that kept up with the 21st century technology was the Twitter page that the American Heart Association has! On their webpage, their are informative tweets down the side. The American Heart Association website also has different tips on controlling your own health.

I got my information from http://www.naemt.org/. The NAEMT is corporate partners with the American Red Cross. The National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians is basically a site for...medical technicians or those who want to help out someone who is hurt. There are different things that they do including letting people know how to stay safe on the job and letting people know about their health and safety resources.
