He stated that individuals have both a right and a duty to preserve their own lives. Although murderers lose their right to life since they act outside the law of reason.

American Founding ideas

The Declaration of Independence states that all men are created equal and are entitled to "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness." The main four ideas about the Declaration of Independence is, why people should be independent from Britain, equality for all people, purpose of government, and lastly to declare independence. Now federalist government has been chosen to avoid tyranny, allow more participation in politics, and to use the states as "laboratories" for new ideas and programs. In The Federalist No.10, James Madison states how federalism prevents someone that takes control of a state from just as easy taking control of the federal government too.

The Legislative Branch proposes laws or rejects the Presidential nominations for head of federal agencies, federal judges, and the Supreme Court, they also have the authority to declare war. The Legislative Branch includes Congress. There are two elected senators per state, which averages to 100 Senators. Now in the House of Representatives there are 435 elected Representatives, divided into all 50 states. This branch is bicameral which means the Congress is divided into two Chambers, a Senate and a House of Representatives. The 17th Amendment, in 1913, provided for direct election of the Senate. The Consitutional Convention thought that if two different groups, one representing state governments and the other representing the people, but they have to both approve every proposed law, which would be not as many problems of Congress passing laws.

The Judicial Branch is a system of federal courts and judges that creates laws made by the legislative branch and enforced by the executive branch. The Judical Branch has nine members that make up the Supreme Court. The branch applies laws to individual cases and decides if laws violate the Constitution. It is involved with the Supreme Court and Federal Courts. The estimated requests for the review of the cases sent to the Supreme Court is 7,500. Although it is stated that only 150 of the request really get reviewed. When the Supreme Court decides to review the issues it is called a writ certiorari. Only four of the nine Supreme Court judges need to agree to the case for it to be reviewed.
