He made the films with footage that my mother had of our family and sometimes my brother and I watch them back and think about how much has changed.

I started my journey with dance in year five, and until I left for Newcastle, I was involved in running practices, going to the studio early to choreograph with my coaches and come up with costume ideas for the shows. Comparing when I started dancing to now, there is so much dance content on the internet, such as videos in the Millennium Dance Complexes that go viral on YouTube or even TikTok dances, it truly shows evolution throughout the years.

Music is one of the most important things in my life. I feel like I can’t function without music now. If I’m studying, if I’m outside walking, if I’m falling asleep, if I’m in the car, etc., I always feel like I need to be listening to music. Spotify is currently one of my most used apps on my phone, where I am always changing and adding to my playlists. I feel like Spotify, YouTube and television have allowed me to explore different genres of music and listen to new things, even podcasts. A couple of my favourite artists right now are Harry Styles, Ariana Grande and 5 Seconds of Summer.

I had friends who survived the tsunami in 2004 in Sri Lanka and I had family members living in Japan close to where most of the destruction was from the 2011 tsunami. I don’t recall the 2004 tsunami as well as the 2011 one but I do remember that it terrified me and kept me on my toes to know about updates and how I could try and help.

I had my first phone when I turned ten years old and since have worked my way up from a flip phone with a keyboard to an iPhone. Something important when I consider getting a new phone is the camera, because I like to take pictures or record videos of places I visit on holiday or have memories of my friends, therefore seeing how mobile phones have evolved up to the current date is interesting since I remember my parents having Nokia phones and flip phones to us now having touch screens and everything on one device instead of having a phone, pager, MP3 player, etc.
