         <title>Anton P. Chekhov was born on January 20, 1860 in Taganrog, Russia. His father was a grocer with a failing business and his mother often shared her love of story telling with her six children.  </title>

         <title>Chekhov&#39;s family moved to Moscow, in 1875, to search for work when their father&#39;s business crashed. Chekhov stayed behind to finish his studies. In 1879, he joined his family. In Moscow, he attended First Moscow State Medical University. </title>

         <title>Anton Chekhov worked as a Physician but didn&#39;t make much money from it. He often treated the poor for free. He originally began to write for financial gain. He once said &quot;Medicine is my lawful wife and Literature if my mistress&quot;. His short stories were often published in local newspapers. His signature style was a mix of comedy and tragedy. Some of his most famous work includes &quot;Three Sisters&quot;, &quot;The Seagull&quot; and &quot;The Cherry Orchard&quot;. In the early stages of his writing career he used a pen name. In the mid-1880&#39;s he began to publish serious works of fiction under his own name. His writings in the newspaper &#39;New Times&#39; and a collection &#39;The Motley Stories&#39; (1886). &quot;The Steppe&quot; won him the Pushkin Prize in 1888. He was influenced by 19th century, Russian realists, Leo Tolstoy and Fyodor Dostoyevsky. </title>

         <title>Chekhov was known as &quot;Russia&#39;s most elusive bachelor&quot;. On May 25, 1901, he married Olga Knipper. Olga Knipper was an actress in his play &quot;The Seagull&quot;. He had specific arrangements for marriage though. One was that she would continue to live in Moscow while he continued to live in  Yalta.</title>

         <title>Anton P. Chekhov was terminally ill with Tuberculosis. Chekhov&#39;s body was transported back to Moscow in a refrigerated railway car meant for oysters. Chekhov was buried next to his father in Novodevichy Cemetery.    </title>
