Also the bees are fast moving that can cover much more ground, and its cheaper to make the little micro-bots,and easier to operate the micro-bots. When Mars is reachable the bots will be able to do many things such as measure weather patterns, detect atmospheric conditions, map out the rocky terrain, and look for signs of life on Mars.
