Julian Puerta.

In my opinion, it is okay if a supervisor role is more paid than a customer service representative role. The supervisor before being it, was first a customer service representative, he passed through all the challenges and has the experience about all that an agent do. A supervisor is able to manage groups of agents because he knows what to do if some agent needs help. Also, he is able to take the role of an agent if is necessary. A supervisor can be an agent and more than that. That is in my opinion why a customer service representative role do not should be more paid than a supervisor role.

I personally disagree because I think that Supervisors need to be more intelligent, multitasking, and very professional. I want to make it clear that I am not discrediting the Representatives; at the contrary, I want to be one of them. But for me, being a Supervisor is a very complicated charge, because you have to do a lot of things. For that reason I think they deserve their salary and even more. They are have a very important role in the company, and I dare to admit that they have one of the most intense responsibilities. I just checked the many things that supervisors need to do during their shift, and I saw that they recruit members for the company. Trying to find someone with a better English than the rest is a very difficult task.

In my opinion, it depends on the specific responsibilities and the value an organization places on each role. Typically, while customer service representatives deal directly with frustrated customers everyday, their supervisors carry the additional weight of managing the team, resolving escalated issues, coaching staff, and ensuring all the rest of the performance. These responsibilities usually justify a higher salary. However, if the role demands a better way of management skills or technical experience, some companies might adjust pay accordingly. Ultimately, compensation should be reflect both the direct challenges of customer service and the strategic and managerial responsibilities of the supervisor.

From my perspective, I consider that the roles of supervisor and customer service representative are different. That is, the supervisor is, or was hired to keep up to date of the good or bad work that the representative is providing to the customers. Certainly, there will be many other tasks that the supervisor carries out, but one of the main roles is to check the customer service representatives performance. On the other hand, the other job is related to being responsive to customer issues, for example a swiftly assistance, providing clear information, creating pleasant conversation spaces, and building customer loyalty. I think that we already know, more or less, what customer service is about. In short, I believe that each one of them got the job for which they applied whether because of their skills, perhaps degrees, experience, or soft skills. In my opinion both jobs, or much better whatever job is paid according to what you know, or what you perform, and how to perform it.

I think that the supervisors, have more experiences, more knowledge, and they are responsible for managing the customer service representatives. In this case the we have the concept that the customer service representatives have the worst part of the job (but more important), because they are who directly handle the challenges and frustrations of customers, and in some cases the customer have a bad behavior, and for other part we have the supervisors which ones all day, only see the performance of workers, and answer some questions, but we have to take into account that the supervisors went through the same process, and now the responsability is higher, because the supervisors have to keep in the line the behavior for the customer services representatives, and take care the image of the company, in other words they are fundamental part of the company.

Well, I don't think this is about who wins more or less. Each job is necessary and has its own pay and role. For example, the supervisor is in charge of all customer service representatives. They also resolve problems that representatives could escalate, and in many cases, there’s only one supervisor handling all the problems. In addition, this person has to perform many other tasks, such as planning meetings, writing and reporting analyses about the team in charge, looking for ways of improving, training the agents, as well as supporting them. In a few words, the supervisor has a lot of responsibilities and constantly moves from one task to another, ensuring the whole team keeps working effectively. The agents usually handle a little part of the supervisor’s tasks. With respect to the pay, I think people should continue preparing themselves for possible promotions and in this way earn some "extra money".
